Brief

Cardiff Metropolitan University were looking for creative ideas to attract international students and stand out in a cluttered market trying to attract international students to study in the UK.  The brief was open to creative approaches, but there was a lot of information they needed to get across.

What we did

The creative team in-house at Rockadove developed a variety of ideas to meet the brief, we presented all the ideas to the client, then further developed the preferred route and proposed our solution.  Our creative approach stood out amongst all the other video agencies that tendered and we were the chosen supplier for the project.

Key to the success of this video project was planning and testing the content structure beforehand.  We developed a script and content structure before undertaking a dry test shoot in our office, which allowed us to see how the pace of the edit and each scene would feel.  Once we had refined this, we also undertook a technical test shoot on location to further test the structure, but also ensure we were fully aware of all the technical aspects of filming on site, to avoid challenges that may crop up on the day.  Having a technical test shoot also allowed the client to feedback at this stage, rather than once all the official filming had take place.  As a result of this time and effort in the planning and pre-production stages of video production, the 3 filming days ran smoothly and to schedule.

Once the video footage has been edited together it was passed to our in-house animation team to add in the animated elements to help bring the social concept fully to life.  Resulting in a really interesting and different style of video that is ideal for the clients target market.
