Brief

The Welsh Blood Service had a rare opportunity to capture the story of an individual whose life was saved from a stem cell donation they had provided many years before.  They were looking for a trusted video production partner, to develop a creative idea, capture the story with sensitivity and with limited time available with Emma, the contributor.

What we did

Researching into the story of Emma, we searched for hooks and niche elements of her story to build upon in the visual approach.  From pre-filming phone interviews with her we identified the narrative we hoped to capture.  Leaning into the reflection of her life, growing up, becoming unwell, and meeting her donor, which was a poignant moment.

With limited time with Emma for filming, we setup a film studio, using colourful light to match her personality, and using a projector to allow us to capture her reaction as she reflects on some images from her past.  The projector was then also used to project a subtle image of her in the hospital bed behind the interview setup.  All coming together in a visual powerful and interesting case study film.
